I joined Prof. Sukumar’s lab in September 2012 to work in areas where wildlife biology meets molecular biology. Having received extensive training in molecular techniques during my Ph.D., I now plan to study the molecular genetics of tusk development in elephants. My work would involve identifying the genes responsible for tusks in elephants and tracing their evolutionary history to gain a better understanding tusk genetics among different present-day populations.
